The Uganda Police Force has issued operational guidelines ahead of the National Cleaning Day exercise scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2026, across the country.
The exercise will run from 7:00am to 10:00am and is part of government efforts to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health and reduce the spread of diseases associated with poor sanitation.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 24, 2026, the Uganda Police Force called upon all members of the public, motorists, traders, institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to fully comply with the directive and actively participate in the cleaning exercise.
Police said that during the exercise, movement will be restricted across the country, with all vehicles, vessels, motorcycles and bicycles prohibited from using roads and water bodies, except in emergency situations.
The Force advised members of the public to remain within their respective areas and participate in cleaning activities before resuming their normal activities at 10:00am.
Police clarified that several categories of people and services will be exempted from the movement restrictions.
These include emergency services such as medical emergencies, persons travelling for scheduled medical treatment who must carry relevant medical documentation, and medical personnel who should have valid identification documents.
Other exemptions include security vehicles operating on official duty and cross-border vehicular traffic along major transport corridors.
The Uganda Police Force further urged the public to cooperate with security personnel deployed to oversee compliance with the exercise and avoid unnecessary confrontations.
Members of the public with concerns or seeking clarification have been advised to approach the nearest police officer or supervisor on duty for guidance.
Police said the cooperation of all Ugandans will be critical in ensuring the success of the National Cleaning Day initiative aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
