The Ministry of Education has issued a tough new warning. Schools that teach during holidays will now face arrests and enforcement action.
Basic Education Commissioner Cleophas Mugenyi says government is done with empty talk. This time RDCs police and local leaders have been deployed to hunt down offenders.
Term One ends on May 1 and learners are expected to go for a three week break. But many schools have turned holidays into business forcing students back into class.
“Enough is enough. We are now enforcing the law,” Mugenyi signaled.
Some schools are even closing before time by one or two weeks. This cuts the official learning days and affects students.
State Minister Joyce Kaducu has warned schools to stop holiday teaching immediately. She says the break should be used to rest and prepare schools not to overload learners.
Parents are now being told to Keep children busy at home, guide and monitor them closely and
protect especially girls from risks like teenage pregnancy
