Police in Mubende have intensified operations against cattle theft following the interception of a vehicle carrying a suspected stolen cow and the recovery of another abandoned animal in a separate incident.
According to Lukwago Kigozi, SSP and PRO for Wamala Region, the latest operation occurred at around 03:00am in Kisiita Village along Butawaata–Kuminamukaaga Road in Kigando Subcounty.

Police on patrol mounted a snap checkpoint where they stopped a white Toyota Noah, registration number UA 397 AR. The occupants reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled.
With the help of residents, police pursued the suspects and arrested Ayesiga Christopher, a resident of Hoima District.
A search of the vehicle revealed a black and white bull tied and covered with a tarpaulin, suspected to have been stolen.

Preliminary findings indicate that two vehicles were involved in the operation. Police later discovered a second incident in Kabateza Village, where a tied black cow was found abandoned on the roadside after suspects fled.

The recovered animals and vehicle have been exhibited, while statements from witnesses and the suspect have been recorded.

Police say efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects and recover the second vehicle.
Authorities in Mubende and the wider Wamala Region say they are intensifying operations to curb cattle theft, which has long affected livestock farmers and herders in the area.
