It was a full-blown security crackdown across Kampala Metropolitan Area as police stormed crime hotspots, arresting 75 suspects and uncovering a suspicious motorcycle operation

The intense operations, carried out between March 15 and 17, hit areas notorious for robbery, drugs, and theft .

Suspects linked to narcotics and disorderly conduct were rounded up as officers combed through Mutungo, Mbuya, Bweyogerere, Mukono, and surrounding zones.

But the biggest shocker came from Mbuya as police raided a garage believed to be a “boda boda chop shop” a place where motorcycles are allegedly tampered with and possibly linked to crime.

Seven motorcycles were seized on the spot: Two had no number plates, two had hidden number plates while three had fake number plates

Luke Owoyesigyire, the KMP Deputy police spokesman says investigators now suspect a wider criminal network behind the operation.

In a related development, police are investigating a mob justice incident that happened in Kasangati.

Owoyesigyire says a suspected thief armed with a panga was beaten to death after reportedly targeting poultry farms with a gang. Police have since stepped in and opened investigations into the killing.

All suspects arrested in the operations are behind bars as police prepare to take them to court.

Security agencies say this is just the beginning with more crackdown coming
