L. Victoria Boat Accident Update: 4 more bodies retrieved as death toll rises

UPDF and Police Marines have recovered four more bodies on Lake Victoria.

This follows an accident that occurred when a boat carrying over 30 people capsized en route to the Kasenyi Landing Site.

Since then, search and rescue teams have been combing the lake for survivors and the bodies of the dead.

On August 5, 2023, the teams recovered eight bodies. They have been identified as:

3. Nabisele Galdyce, 40.
4. Namulondo Proscovia, 44
5. Najuma Edith, 30.
6. Nsabimana Innocent, 35.
7. Wabwire Dickson, 30.
8. Unidentified (female adult).

9. Okumu Derek, 23.
10. Karegyeya Francis, 28.

More bodies have been recovered following an operation yesterday.

The bodies have been identified as:


11. Mukutuwa Nicholas, 26.
12. Taremwa Emmanuel, alias Ronald, 22
13. Ssimbwa Moses Kayongo, alias Tonny, 27.
14. Nakato Grace, 18.

The bodies remain at the city mortuary for postmortem examinations.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyano says that the search for more bodies continues.
