Frank Gashumba says he didn’t know Joshua Baraka was Ugandan, praising his international sound and unique music style.
Media critic and politician Frank Gashumba has admitted he initially did not know that fast-rising singer Joshua Baraka is Ugandan.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Gashumba explained that Baraka’s sound and music style made him assume the artist was international.
He specifically pointed to the song “Wrong Places,” saying it carries a global feel more associated with music from the United Kingdom or the United States.
“That song doesn’t sound Ugandan. It feels more like music from the UK or the US. I honestly didn’t know Joshua Baraka was Ugandan, but he is a great talent,” Gashumba said.
He also revealed that he only recently became familiar with dancehall artist Ziza Bafana, noting that he previously knew the name but couldn’t match it to a face until the ongoing public disputes with Eddy Kenzo.
