BPIL is looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position below:

Job purpose:

The Rider Sales – Clerk is to deliver dressed chicken orders to customers across Kampala safely, on time, and in good condition, while also promoting sales and collecting payments. The Rider Sales – Clerk acts as both a delivery representative and a mobile salesperson, ensuring excellent customer service and brand visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery & Distribution

  • Deliver dressed chicken orders to shops, restaurants, agents, and households promptly and accurately.
  • Verify the quantity, temperature, and condition of products before dispatch.
  • Obtain customer signatures or delivery confirmations for all deliveries.
  • Return delivery documents and payment receipts to the Distribution Centre daily.

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Promote and sell dressed chicken products to existing and potential customers along assigned routes.
  • Identify new customers or outlets within the delivery area and share leads with the sales team.
  • Upsell products, communicate ongoing promotions, and encourage repeat business.
  • Provide basic product information and handle customer queries courteously.

Stock Management

  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, returns, and collections.
  • Report any stock shortages, damages, or customer complaints immediately.

Motorcycle Care

  • Always operate the company motorcycle safely and responsibly.
  • Conduct daily pre-ride checks (fuel, brakes, lights, tyres, carrier box).
  • Ensure the motorcycle and delivery box are clean, branded, and well-maintained.
  • Report mechanical or safety issues to the Supervisor immediately.

Compliance & Conduct

  • Follow all traffic laws, safety standards, and cold-chain handling procedures.
  • Wear full company uniform and safety gear (helmet, reflector, gloves).
  • Maintain professional behaviour and courtesy when interacting with customers.
  • Support any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education:

Minimum Academic Qualifications:

  • A’ Level or Diploma preferred
  • • Valid Class A motorcycle riding permit.

Skills and Experience:

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 1–2 years’ experience in delivery or field sales (preferably in FMCG, meat, or poultry).
  • Good knowledge of Kampala routes and customer locations.
  • Basic numeracy and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong communication, honesty, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and under pressure

Working conditions

  • Field-based role, majority of the day spent on the road.
  • Early morning starts (as early as 5:00 AM).
  • Exposure to cold-chain handling during loading and delivery.
  • Requires use of protective clothing and gear.
