Summary

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the Quality Controller will ensure appropriate quality control practices and procedures. Test in-coming grains, material in production process as well as finished products according to the Company standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct incoming shipment/delivery of quality inspections on all grain, cereals and other products
  • Conduct quality checks on materials in production process
  • Conduct daily pre-dispatch quality checks on all products leaving the company
  • Conduct in store inspections to asses quality and handling of material in storage
  • Organize fumigation and other necessary corrective measures where needed to preserve quality
  • Provide accurate and timely quality reporting
  • Manage and update all forms and record keeping of quality
  • Oversee all on hold/reject products and ensure audit trails
  • Ensure record keeping and filing is correct and consistent and that all records are following good manufacturing practices
  • Management of quality manual systems and compliance
  • Minimize waste and loss through poor handling and storage practices and facilitate a meeting of sign off on all products dumped due to poor quality
  • Train other staff in performing quality inspections
  • Participate in production of annual and monthly for quality department
  • Compile reports from weekly samples of cereals and cereal products and prepare statistical spreadsheets and graphs for trend analysis
  • Send product samples to outside labs for assurance testing and advise QAS on deviations of specifications
  • Wok with production departments to fulfill prospective client requests for samples and analysis of products
  • Attend industry events such as workshops, seminars, trainings where applicable and represent the company in professional manner
  • Carry out other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor food technology/science, biology, chemistry, microbiology etc.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in core essential responsibilities and duties.
  • Result oriented, quality oriented individual with high level of integrity
  • Able to work transparently with all team members
  • Ability to motivate people and to ensure quality guidelines are being followed
  • Open to change and learning new systems
  • Effective planner and time conscious
