Project Coordinator – AgroForestry Business
Location: In Uganda

Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation and Coordination
- Coordinate implementation of agroforestry, restoration, and livelihood activities in line with project objectives.
- Lead annual and quarterly work planning and ensure timely implementation of activities.
- Supervise field teams and provide technical guidance to Community Development Officers.
Agroforestry and Enterprise Development
- Support the development of nature-based enterprises and agroforestry value chains.
- Facilitate linkages between farmers, SMEs, nursery operators and markets.
- Promote adoption of climate-smart agroforestry practices and FMNR approaches.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with district local governments, NFA, community groups, and other partners.
- Support establishment and strengthening community forest management structures
- Ensure project activities contribute to restoration targets including agroforestry expansion and forest conservation.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Ensure proper monitoring of project indicators and documentation of results.
- Prepare technical reports and updates for the Food Systems & Climate Resilience Advisor and WHH management.
Other areas of responsibility
- Support organizational learning by documenting and sharing projects with the best practices and lessons learned.
- Contribute to donor reporting processes by providing technical inputs and field updates.
- Collaborate with MEAL teams in data collection, monitoring exercises, and evaluations.
- Support coordination with other WHH projects and partners working in related sectors such as climate resilience, food systems, and natural resource management in the project area.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings, sector working groups, and technical discussions relevant to the project.
- Support visibility and communication activities related to project achievements when required.
- Coordinate the overall implementation of agroforestry, restoration, and community stewardship activities in the project target areas.
- Lead the planning and implementation of project activities including community forest management initiatives, agroforestry promotion, and restoration of degraded landscapes.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to Community Development Officers and other field staff to ensure quality implementation of activities.
- Coordinate establishment of agroforestry demonstration sites, model farms, and institutional woodlots in collaboration with communities and local institutions.
- Facilitate the strengthening of community and private tree nurseries to improve production and supply of quality seedlings.
- Support the development of nature-based enterprises and agroforestry value chains, including linkages between farmers, SMEs, and markets.
- Coordinate capacity-building activities for farmers, community groups, and local institutions on agroforestry and climate-resilient land management practices.
- Maintain strong coordination with district local governments, National Forestry Authority (NFA), community organizations, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensuring integration of gender equality, youth inclusion, and participation of vulnerable groups in project activities.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely reporting of activities, outputs, and outcomes to the Food Systems and Climate Resilience Advisor and WHH management.
- Ensure compliance with WHH policies, donor requirements, and project work plans.
- Document project achievements, lessons learned, and best practices to support organizational learning and reporting
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Agroforestry, Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Agribusiness or related field.
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in agroforestry, climate-smart agriculture, or natural resource management projects.
- Strong writing skills (donor reports, case studies), and project budgeting skills.
- Previous experience in working with INGOs and international donors and assets.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills for engaging effectively with community groups, local leaders, and partner institutions are desirable.
- Strong leadership and coordination skills.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with community groups and government partners.
- Ability to uphold integrity and work in a diverse team.
