JOB DETAILS:
The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time. This role requires extreme precision, confidentiality, and a strong understanding of financial and legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end payroll for all employees on a scheduled basis (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions accurately.
- Manage and process tax withholdings, superannuation/401(k) contributions, and other statutory deductions.
- Handle new hires, terminations, leaves of absence (paid and unpaid), and salary changes in the payroll system.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute payslips and annual tax statements (e.g., W-2s in the US, Payment Summaries in Australia).
- Stay updated on and ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Answer employee questions regarding their pay.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Xero, MYOB) and MS Excel.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of payroll tax laws, garnishments, and benefits administration.
- Soft Skills: High attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
