Eddy Kenzo has revealed that he has returned to school, describing the move as a personal decision driven by self-growth and responsibility rather than politics.
Speaking in a recent interview, Kenzo said he successfully completed his mature entry examinations and has since enrolled at university.
“I did mature entry education and I passed very well. I am also now doing university,” Kenzo said.
The award-winning artist was quick to clarify that his decision to pursue further education is not linked to political ambitions, despite his frequent appearances in political spaces, particularly around the yellow brigade.
“I am not a politician and I do not want to engage in active politics. My going back to school is for personal growth,” he said.
Kenzo explained that his children are at the centre of his motivation to return to the classroom, noting that he wants to set the right example and reinforce the importance of education at home.
“I want to show my kids the right way and attach value to education. They won’t be managing my businesses for me forever,” he added.
He also described his education journey as a long-term investment in himself, especially as he thinks about life beyond the stage.
“This is something I am doing for myself, especially in my 40s and 50s, because I won’t be jumping on stage forever,” Kenzo said.
While distancing his academic pursuits from politics, the singer did not shy away from expressing his political views. He said his travels abroad have shaped his perspective on leadership and governance back home.
“I have traveled and seen how other countries are run. When I focus back on Uganda, I believe Museveni has led the country well and does not need any change,” he said.
Kenzo’s remarks come against the backdrop of his shifting political associations. The singer rose to prominence alongside Mikie Wine, but later distanced himself from the party.
