According to A Pass, the incident happened just about 50 meters from the polling station, where he says he was ambushed by three men.

Singer A Pass has revealed injuries he says he sustained after being beaten during the January 15 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Uganda went to the polls amid tight security and a complete internet shutdown across the country. In a video shared on his Instagram page, A Pass disclosed that he was attacked near a polling station on election day.

According to the artist, the incident happened just about 50 meters from the polling station, where he says he was ambushed by three men.

“Bakubye nze. Naye nga tewali nansonga yona. 50 meters away from the polling station and they ambushed me. I didn’t see them coming- three men, two in army uniform and one casually dressed,” A Pass said in the video caption.

The singer, who is a vocal supporter of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and has consistently spoken out against injustice and abuse of power, said the attack was unprovoked.

The Electoral Commission later declared President Yoweri Museveni the winner of the presidential race, with more than 70 percent of the total valid votes.
