About 300 revellers showed up for the show but credit goes to Beenie for not shying away from stepping on the stage.

This could be the last time Jamaican dancehall star, Anthony Moses Davis a.k.a Beenie Man, might have performed in Uganda. This is after his show at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday flopped beyond words could ever explain.

Organised by Top Boy Entertainment Records, Beenie Man jetted in the country on Wednesday, November 9, hoping that he would attract thousands of revellers at his show, given the number of hit songs to his name and how famous and prominent he is, plus other artists, such as Oxlade from Nigeria, Vinka, Winnie Nwagi and Azawi, who were lined up to curtain raise for the self-styled King of The Dancehall. But to his disappointment, revellers chose to remain home to bonk and others opted to attend other shows in the city.

Bizonto Comedians, who hosted their fans on the same day at the UMA Exhibition Hall- a venue at a stone-throw distance from the Cricket Oval- had their maiden concert attract a huge crowd, whereas Ada Ehi, a Nigerian gospel star, performed for hundreds of believers at Lugogo Hockey Grounds, the same night.

Perhaps, Beenie Man, who was performing in Kampala for the second time after 13 years, will have the promoters who booked him, to blame. His show was poorly planned and marketed and publicised. Actually, very few people knew about it.

About 300 revellers showed up for the show but credit goes to Beenie for not shying away from stepping on the stage. The dreadlocked star, who is soon clocking 50, hit the stage at around 11pm, dressed in all black and a blue blazer hit the stage. It was a non-stop 1-hour performance, which had the crowd rocking with him. He performed almost all his hit songs, including Girls Dem Sugar, Worl Dance, Rum and Red Bull, King of the Dance Hall, Who Am I, Wickedest Slam, Nuff Gal.
