Uganda’s pioneer urban youth luganda station 100.2 Galaxy FM will tonight celebrate one year of Radio dominance in Kampala.
“When we opened the radio station, everyone was stuck to playing rock and international music. Galaxy FM was opened to change this.” said the Station director Dr. Innocent Nahabwe. “We opted to go local and target the 70% section of the population which understands the local Ugandan way of doing things” he added.
Galaxy FM has made great strides over the last one year. Research shows that they are among the top 10 most listened to stations in Kampala and the leading station among the youths aged 20 and 25 years. The Kansanga based station has the leading online presence among other stations with a Facebook page that has close to 140,000 fans who are actively engaged all the time.
“We continue championing local urban music and comedy. We recently launched the Zzina Entertainment awards that will reward true talent in the entertainment industry” Innocent said.
Urban TV’s Mary Luswata and comedian Omukwobete are some of the latest additions to the entertaining team of presenters that the radio station has. Comedians Afande Kele Kele and Kotilda are some of the other comedians who work on the station.
The anniversary party will be held at Club Amnesia. You can celebrate with them tonight. It starts at 8pm with a full house of all Galaxy FM Dj’s. Bell larger is at 3,500shs and there will be free entry.
