Kelly Osbourne was emotional during her first TV interview since the passing of her dad Ozzy, as she opened up about the tributes to him across Birmingham.

Kelly, 41, struggled to hold back her emotions as she spoke about the Black Sabbath legend, who passed away in July after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, after the rocker was posthumously honoured by his home town.

On what would have been his 77th birthday, Ozzy was awarded the city’s highest civic honour the Lord Mayor’s Award, by Deputy Lord Mayor Ken Wood.

In a pre-recorded interview shown on BBC Breakfast on Thursday, Kelly broke down in tears as she revealed what the honour meant to her family and shared her struggle with grief.

She said: ‘The fact that he has been recognised in such a way means so much to us because he loved this city, he loved Birmingham, he was a true Brummie through and through, and to be recognised in this way, it’s incredible.’

He worked so hard to do what he wanted to do most in this and that was perform one more time and then he was ready to go. He made a mark on this planet that will never be erased.’
